Organized around a central column of flowering trees, two varieties of birds– one much more abstract than the other– are colorfully drawn against the indigo ground of this Khamseh bag. Iconic south Persian roosters are drawn in profile, complete with a wing and tail-feathers. There is also a second, more boxy two-headed type. This bag represents one half of a double khorjin set and the flat woven back is preserved. Drawn with simple stripes, madder red and green bands alternate with high contrasting white cotton stripes.
