Luri

Early 20th Century
South Persian Tribal
DESCRIPTION:

This pleasant Luri rug was hand-woven using traditional techniques in southwestern Persia about one hundred years ago. It has thick lustrous pile. The colors were all derived from vegetal sources. The prominent red of both the border and the field came from madder root. The rustic feel of this piece is complimented with small birds throughout the field and two distinct medallion types. The white outer border adds balance to this colorful composition.
