This majestic Heriz from Northwest Persia draws a central medallion against a classic madder-red ground. Emanating from top and bottom are two voluminous palmettes serving as anchors to the medallion, painted in green, and rendered in large scale. They are approximately two thirds the height of the medallion and help to give the impression of a central column of green. Sky-blue corner-pieces balance this bold but active composition as does the matching indigo-blue of the border and the central medallion.
