With alternating bands of indigo and ivory, each drawn with fluid vine-scroll ornament, this delicate south Persian carpet evokes the feeling of fine Persian shawls and textiles of the nineteenth century. The border is simple, but reinforces the aesthetic of the field. Of particular merit is the abrash, or shimmering modulation of medium and dark blues which, combined with soft Luri wool, provides a definite sense of slow rhythm and movement.
