This majestic palace-sized Fereghan Sarouk carpet draws a central medallion formed from a network of meandering arabesque vine-scroll creating layers of interlocking design and pattern. Richly drawn ivory corner-pieces replicate the graphic dynamism of the medallion as clusters of small colorful blossoms, foliage, and blooms illuminate against a deep madder-red field. The borders make use of a classic Persian repeating palmette variety with the addition of pairs seated green parrots as well as birds in flight flanking each element.
