Afshar mixed technique spindle bag
Saddlebags & Trappings
Being sold on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. John Corwin
0'10" x 1'4"
This narrow Afshar bag differs from most pieces described as ‘qalyandan,’ and may be more properly seen as a spindle bag. It was woven as one piece, then folded and joined at the side and bottom. Extra warp forms hanging tassels. Woven in sumak technique, four panels are drawn across the surface, two on front and two on back, all containing long flowering plants.
