This small Afshar rug draws an abstracted flower pot design with large scale and vibrant vegetal color. Blossoms and palmettes radiate against an off-ivory ground. While the theme of drawing is classically Persian and sedentary in nature, the distinctive construction of this piece, using both light and dark wool and animal hair warp, is quintessentially tribal.
