Fereghan

This exceptionally elegant Fereghan carpet from central Persia masterfully balances drawing, scale, and color. The all-over “Herati” pattern is perfectly scaled to fully articulate each of the various rosettes, blossoms, and foliage of the design, drawing them in cool tones of blues and rose against an ivory ground. While the pattern is indeed all encompassing, three columns of ornament subtly accented by color may be discerned adding a central focal point to the composition.
