This charming Hamadan village rug woven with surprisingly soft central Persian wool draws clusters of small paisleys or “botehs” composed of multi-colored speckled cells against a golden khaki ground. The weaver has inventively balanced two niches on top and bottom by drawing abstract floral corner pieces. The top portion is inscribed with a date which signifies 1330, or the Western year 1912. A playful and authentic antique Persian folk weaving!
