Rug ID

This small format Kashan rug novelly reinterprets classical Persian garden design from the seventeenth century. It incorporates various abstracted flowers and vegetal forms within a quilt-like field pattern of diamonds. A larger central square draws a quatrefoil made from four elongated palmettes, from which all other elements seem to emanate. The diamond theme is repeated in the border, where a traditional Persian linked palmette border has been transposed into a series of squares.
